Flamingorgeous

Hello

A quick and cheery post today with this colourful flamingo from Pink Ink.

Coloured with watercolour pencil and distress oxide inks. You can just about see the sparkles, not easy to photograph in artificial light. Spring is just around the corner so hopefully not long now until there's a bit of sunshine to craft by.

I hope your day is full of warmth and cheer xxx

Sail away

Hello

It seems like it's been a long winter and at last there are a few signs of spring around the corner. This week I needed a bit of relaxing time and what better than some colouring in with my new Koh-i-Noor watercolour pencils, purchased recently in Prague.

The boat and hare are from Lavinia and the wreath is mostly using Card-io stamps with distress oxide inks. It also fits the brief for the colour challenge with Isa.C Art&Craft.

I feel more relaxed already thinking about drifting off in the moonlight.

Have a lovely weekend. Thank you for stopping by xxx

Christmas in February

Hello

This year I am joining in with some challenges hosted by Isa on FB. Each month there is a Christmas card challenge, with the idea that at the end of the year Christmas cards will be made without the last minute rush.

This month the prompt is dark blue, gold, tree and stencilling.

I started with prussian blue Brusho and aqua lagoon Pixie Powder on watercolour paper.

I used Dr Ph Martin's bleed proof white paint through stencils. I also 'swooshed' some snow and added a lot of spatter.

The Crafty Individuals die cut tree was embellished with gems and I decided not to add a sentiment to the front...at least for now.

I added some faded jeans Distress ink and Treasure Gold gilding wax to the edges. The gilding wax picks up the texture of the paper nicely.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely week xxx

Cupboard transformation

Hello

Recently we have had a new boiler, which has meant that the cupboard where the tank was was ripe for a makeover. Acrylic paint and GiogioCraft stencils in hand I set to work.

I decided I would cover the redundant pipe work but would leave the new pipes...for now anyway.

It took about 12 hours and a lot of aching muscles and joints, as it wasn't a very comforable place to work.

Fairly pleased with it in the end, although I could carry on tweaking a bit more.

It's going to be a wardrobe so most of it won't be visible...but I'll know!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely day xx

Loved

Hello

Valentine's Day is a good excuse to have a play with the Gelli plate and the lovely elephant stencils from GiogioCraft.

"I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you’ve made of yourself, but for what you’re making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out." Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Hope you have a great day xxx

Lace

Hello

Been a busy few days but I managed a bit of relaxing colouring for a February challenge hosted by Calicrafty Pam with the prompt 'lace'.

I'm not keen on lace on projects, maybe a bit of ribbon, it's something about the texture I think, but I do have a lovely lace stencil from GiogioCraft.

It was a good opportunity to get out a Hunkydory stamp I have hardly used.

You can just about see in the detail that I decoupaged the flowers, and I enjoyed colouring the tiny bits of colour in the beads, very therapeutic.

Hope you have a relaxing day doing something you enjoy. Thank you for stopping by xx

February tagalong

Hello

This year I'm joining in with a monthly tagalong hosted by Isa on FB. There is a live technique tutorial  and this month the feature was gesso. If you are interested you need to ask to join the private tagalong group. I won't share her techniques for obvious reasons.

February tagalong - using gesso to tone down background papers, use as a resist or applied thickly for texture.

I'm really enjoying being pushed to try new things and being a bit more adventurous in my crafting.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely day xx

Roses

Hello

Another quick one as there hasn't been much chance for crafting with boiler replacement going on. The good news is that we have heat and hot water, the bad news is everything, absolutely everything, is covered in a layer of gritty dust.

I did have time for a little watercolouring to join in with a February challenge hosted by Calicrafty Pam with the prompt 'roses'.

I did a scribbly sketch, added loose watercolour and finished off with some stencilling and stamping. This was a very different style for me, but I really enjoyed it and plan to experiment some more.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by. Have a lovely week xx
