Comparatively Speaking

Hello
I've been having a little play with Brusho, PaperArtsy Infusions and Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders.

I tried sprinkling, spritzing, washes, layering, sprays, glazes and bleaching to name a few techniques. To see the results of my labours and how they compare have a look at The Craft Barn blog today.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Happy crafting xx

Street Art in Bristol

Hi there
I'm just back from a fantastic weekend in Bristol celebrating my wedding anniversary. We had a lot of fun on the trail of street art and good beer...a match made in heaven. I took around one hundred photos but I've picked out a few of my favourites.

I'll start with the paintings by Banksy because they are probably the most well known.

First up my top three...

I think this painting by Andrew Burns Colwill was my absolute favourite because of the power of the picture, the subtle images in the shadows and the very serious message it conveys.

This painting by Conor Harrington takes the whole side of a building. I love how dynamic and elegant it is.

This mural by Xenz and Will Barras is astonishing. There are layers and layers of images hidden in the scene. Zoom in and see what you can find.

We found little gems around unexpected corners...

 ...and some rather larger pieces!

I hope you've enjoyed these as much as I have. A really inspiring weekend. Not to mention we found the best ice cream I've had in a very long time at College Green...and no that's not forced perspective it was huge!!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit. xxx

August brings the sheaves of corn...

Hello
The first Sunday of the month means it's time for the next verse of Sarah Coleridge's poem for The Craft Barn Twelve Month Challenge.

August brings the sheaves of corn,
Then the harvest home is borne.

I love the soft colours of late summer, although at the moment I'd just be grateful for a few dry days!

Do have a look at The Craft Barn blog to see how other people interpret the verse. I try to comment on as many as I can during the month.

Thanks for stopping by. xx

Van Gogh-ish

Hi there
Thank you for popping by. My latest project for The Craft Barn is live this morning. The theme this week has been Van Gogh. I had a lot of fun with this one. I must confess though that the image I was orginally working from must have been reversed...flowers in a blue vase.

And here's my interpretation...

For all the details of the technique and materials do have a look at the blog.

As usual it's a quick one as I'm off to Bristol with my husband for an anniversary treat. He thinks we're going to be doing a pub crawl, I'm planning to take him around the fabulous street art and maybe even find a few Banksys...I wonder how long it will take him to notice!

Enjoy your weekend xxx
