Faux wood

Hello

Another month and another tag challenge with Isa. This next theme is for September and October and is grids

I joined Isa's YouTube workshop on creating faux wood effects. It's a technique for a weathered, painted wood effect, which obviously I won't share, but you can message her to access it here. This is the card I made...

Having made some strips of faux wood I thought I could use them on the grids tag.

I used Distress Oxide ink on the background and lifted out a watery sun by wrapping the end of a round wooden stamp in a baby wipe and pressing it into the card.

Then just a matter of creating a trellis and adding some die cut flowers.

Hoping that trellis counts as a grid.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely week xx

Sassy pets

Hello

It's been a busy two weeks with lots of family stuff and not much time for crafting. I have managed an afternoon in the craftroom to have a dabble at a new challenge set by Isa on Facebook. As well as the monthly tag challenge (yet to be completed) there's a postcard challenge this month. It has to be postcard sized, 2D/flat, with animals and a 'sassy' sentiment.

I stamped the Snarky Cat from StampersAnonymous first and masked it off with a sticky note. I smooshed some Distress ink on a mat and spritzed it before swiping the watercolour card through it. With the mask still in place I added spatter, some stencilling and stamping.

The cat was coloured with alcohol markers and a pale grey outline added to give the illusion of depth...but it is flat honestly!

Once I'd started I couldn't stop until I'd done a couple more with the same process. I used the Katzelkraft light bulb and cat, with a Snarky Cat sentiment and  GiogioCraft stencil.

I think my favourite is StampersAnonymous Mr Meow Meow and Tweets McGee with a Stamperia stencil.

Which is your favourite?

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely week xx

Group therapy

Hello

A quick one today using the same technique as my last post using Pentart light modeling paste through a CrafTreat stencil. Not easy to photograph the first step.

I used Brusho for the background and gilding wax on the letters.

A quick card and great for something a bit more masculine. I tried it out in different colours.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely week xx

Stencils and modeling paste

Hello

A while ago a friend and I got together for a crafty day. One of the things we had a go at was using Pentart light modeling paste through stencils.

It can be used in moulds but is very light and fairly quick drying on a porous surface. We prepared quite a few for later use...

...taking over the living room floor.

I started with a good sprinkle of Brusho and Pixie Powders, spritzing with water to get the background going. You can see a bit of the sheen from the Pixie Powder.

The modeling paste acts as a resist and remains much paler, although the red seemed to stain a bit more. Next I used gilding wax on the paste.

I didn't feel I had quite the depth I wanted so I added a bit of stencilling.

Finally a few white splatters tied it all together.

They have a really nice textured finish, very tactile indeed.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Do let me know what you think, your comments are always welcome xxx

Minitag catch up

Hello

The summer is over and it's time for a bit of a catch up with crafting and blogging.

I finished the last three tags for the summer mini tag challenge with Isa on Facebook. With holiday and COVID it was certainly a challenge to even manage the minitags. Thankfully normal service is now resumed!

Week 7 - numbers, using stamps from Creative Stamping magazine.

Week 8 - metallic, using a gel print on gold metallic card.

Week 9 - trees, using Distress Oxide ink and stamps from Crafty Individuals and Katzelkraft.

If you're wondering ataraxia is a state of serene calmness...something I'm working on.

Heading back to work after a long break is always hard, but my lovely husband brightened my week with this fantastic gift of DecoTime alcohol and aqua markers.

I've only had time for a little play but they seem very juicy compared with ProMarkers and I like the brush tip. An added bonus is that they came with storage. I might not have time to use them but just looking at all those colours is enough to make me smile. It's helping with the ataraxia!

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx
