Gelli plate tape transfer

Today I'm sharing one of the challenges for the #marchprintingchallenge hosted by Gelli Arts on Instagram.

Day 7 is transparent and so I thought it was a good time to try out the tape transfer technique.

I started by stencilling and doodling on the gel plate.

When the paint was completely dry I lay sticky tape across the plate and smoothed it down, before slowly peeling it off, one strip at a time. The tape was still sticky enough for me to fix it to a little glass bottle. If you wanted to store them for future use you would have to dust the back with mica powder.

I coloured the top with alcohol markers and wrapped around gold thread.

The light still shines through...just...

I was pleased with how the transfer worked out. Don't know why it's taken me so long to try it!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely day xx

  1. Now this reminds me that I made some of these and not sure what I did with them but that's me all over lol! The jar looks lovely Sending hugs, Angela xXx

  2. Fantastic results and little bottle Claire, I love it!!!
I have to do more trials, and using my Poscas too like you for the dots, to try to get such shiny results (mine so far were not too good :( xx

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. xx
