Brusho Flowers

One of my favourite techniques, because it always works out well, is to emboss in white, spray with water, sprinkle with Brusho and watch the magic happen. You can manipulate the Brusho by spritzing with more water, moving it around with a paintbrush or lifting it off with a paper towel. Once the first layer is down you can drop in more to deepen some areas. To finish off use a fine black pen to outline and alcohol markers to colour small areas. Finally a few spatters of paint to tie it all together.

Materials used:
PaperArtsy: JOFY 33
Brusho
Dina Wakley acrylic paint: night
White embossing powder
ProMarkers
gel pen

Smile

Hi there

Not a lot of time for crafting or blogging at the moment but here's a little something with a Valentine's flavour.

The heart is made with grunge paste through a Tando stencil, which is why it was difficult to get it all in focus.

The Craft Barn calendar challenge for February is Red and Hearts...I'm hoping I can get away with one heart!  Thank you for taking the time to have a look.

Materials used:
PaperArtsy: Grunge Paste
PaperArtsy stamp: JOFY  JM05
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint: eggplant, claret, orchid, red London bus, mermaid, snowflake
Ranger Dylusions Ink Spray: post box red, funky fuschia
Ranger Dylusions stamp: The Right Words
Kaisercraft stamp: Arty
Tando stencils: Hearts, Giovanna Spiral
The Crafter's Workshop stencil: Mini Circle Grid
Stabilo All pencil
silver paint marker

Shiny Stuff

Hi there
I've not had much time for crafting in the last month but with less than 24 hours to go I decided to make something for the PaperArtsy Challenge - Shiny Stuff.  Inspired by Trish Latimer's post I decided to make something with copious amounts of Treasure Gold in different guises.

I started by melting some glue with a glue gun, and pressed in to it a flower stamp which had been lightly smeared with vaseline to help it release.  When cool, I cut out the petals and covered them in classic treasure gold.

I covered two edges of a piece of card stock with a thin layer of grunge paste.  On the left a brick stamp was repeatedly pressed in to the past and on the right a script stamp to add a little texture.

Then I experimented with some Fresco Finish chalk paints for a background.  I stenciled on some leaves but later changed my mind and painted them out.  Some script was stamped in distress ink and the flowers were stamped in Archival ink.  The flowers were outlined with a Stabilo All pencil.  Some more stamping was added to the background.

Treasure gold was lightly rubbed over metal butterflies to highlight the design.

More treasure gold was used to highlight the painted grunge paste.  Some extra lines of treasure gold were added with the edge of a credit card.  Gold microbeads were added to the centre of the flowers with a little extra higlighting of course.  Finally I decided against the painted red stamens and added some metal nailhead stickers for a final bit of bling.  Definitely shiny stuff.

Thank you for stopping by. Why not pop over to the PaperArtsy blog to see some of the other entries?

Tando Triple Birdhouse

Thank you for popping by.  Here's something I made a couple of weeks ago.  The kit comes in flat pieces and I did most of the painting while flat, just touching up the joins at the end.  To start with everything got a cover of white gesso, except for the outside of the front and back pieces, which started with a layer of PaperArtsy Fresco Finish little black dress.  Once dry a thin layer of crackle glaze was applied over the black and left to dry.  For the base colours I used mermaid, guacamole and cheesecake.  A good tip when using crackle glaze is to apply it with a piece of Cut-n-Dry foam to get a nice thin layer.  When you apply the paint over the top it will start to crack quite quickly so make sure that you do not apply it too thickly and NEVER go back over it to fill in any gaps or you will just cover up the cracks.

The roofs had an additional layer of a translucent shade (south pacific, yellow submarine and hey pesto) painted and/or stencilled on, with a little snowflake paint rubbed on the edges.  JOFY stamps were added with black archival ink and painted in with more Fresco Finish colours.  Then it was all glued together with Cosmic Shimmer glue and any gaps touched up with paint.  It now sits on my window sill at work cheering me up as I plough through endless admin.

Something I made earlier

To get started I thought I would share some cards I made earlier in the year.  They have Gelli Plate backgrounds using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paints and a variety of masks and stencils.  JOFY flowers and butterflies are stamped in black Ranger Archival ink and coloured in with Faber-Castell Gelatos, with a little white highlighting to finish off.
