A little bird told me

Hello

A super quick one today as I'm doing a mountain of die cutting for a craft class in a few weeks.

I used a Gelli plate background with acrylic paint and stamped on the Lavinia bird, berries and hare. The berries and spatter were done with Posca pens.

Not my usual colours but I like how it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely day xxx

Seahorse

Hello

A very quick one today. Back in September I posted about using Pentart light modelling paste with stencils. You can read it here. Today I'm sharing another card made with the same batch of backgrounds.

This time I used watercolour for the background and paint pens for the seahorse.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It is destined as a birthday card for a seahorse lover.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely day xx

Wisley in winter and street art in Bristol

Hello

I've had a busy week with lots of meeting up with friends and family. I managed a walk around Wisley RHS gardens with my sister and was inspired to paint a picture to capture the winter colours.

I used acrylic paint, paint pens and ink.

We also had a lovely weekend with friends in Bristol and had a Sunday morning walk around the North Street area in Bedminster, looking at all of the amazing street art. Too many to share them all but here are a few of my favourites...

I love the idea of public art, beautiful, inspiring work free for everyone to enjoy. I hope you've found some inspiration too.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely week xx

Live with love

Hello

For the February #tagalongwithisa challenge you have to use three elements from the list. I love this colour palette so I went with the colours, embossed heart and gears.

The heart is a GiogioCraft die cut, painted and embossed in several layers of clear embossing powder. I used DecoArt crackle past on the tag and Gelatos to colour it. Wetting the Gelatos allowed the colour to run into the cracks for more definition. The background gears are peel offs which worked better on the rough texture than stamping would have done. There's very fine spatter which doesn't show up particularly well in the photo.

I haven't had the Gelatos out in ages. This was quite messy and fun to do.

Thank you for taking the time to pop by. Have a lovely day xx

Love is in the air

Hello

A friend sent me a very apt meme this week...

Be someone

who makes someone else

look forward

to tomorrow.

The elephants are watercoloured GiogioCraft laser cuts and the hearts cut from a gel print.

Sending you love xx

Dimension without layers II

Hello

I thought I'd have another go at the techniques shared on Isa's dimension without layers workshop. I chose a totally different subject (no bugs or beetles) and also used mainly watercolour pencils and Posca paint pens.

It was quite a few nights of relaxing colouring in.

I can't find a way of stopping my phone camera from 'optimising' images. In reality there's a little more contrast. I shouldn't be so lazy and get the actual camera out!

Thank you for stopping by. Your comments are always welcome xx

Life happens...

Hello

This is one of those weeks where life happens and craft doesn't! I have lots of birthdays for family and friends this time of year, but I'm afraid celebrating does interfere with crafting. Hence just a quick one today.

I started with Pentart light modelling paste through a Craftreat stencil. It's light, like it says, but also quite flexible when dry, which makes it great for cards that need posting and won't crack if they get bent.

Once dry I sprinkled it with Brusho, spritzed it, then spattered Distress Ink.

A little stencilling with one of the new Giogiocraft stencils in the corners added a bit more interest. I gradually built up highlights and shadow with alcohol markers and gel pens.

A few spatters finished it off and tied it all together. A handy masculine card for a beer lover.

Hope your week goes well. Thank you for stopping by xx

Dimension without layers

Hello

Today I'm sharing a card made on the fabulous 'Dimension without Layers' workshop with Isa. Obviously I won't share the process but you can still sign up and access the recording. As usual, you get pre workshop instructions, so that if you want you can do the preparation and craft along at the same time.

It looked like this part way through...

...nearly finished...

 ...and ended up like this.

The project is completely flat, nothing stuck on. Great for avoiding extra postage!

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx
