March printing challenge - week 2

Hello

Today I'm sharing the gel prints for week 2 of the GelliArts #marchprintingchallenge.

5. Feathers - lots of layers on this one and some paint pen

6. Your initial - one of my favourite GiogioCraft stencils

 7. Transparent - sticky tape transfer

8. Cardboard - I deliberately used kitchen towel to blot the paint so I could get the ghost print dots to give a sense of movement

9. Book pages - wasn't very inspired for this one...can you tell?!

10. Tissue paper - two layers of ghost prints, scrunched for the background texture and twisted for the heart

11. Metallic - on paper with a golden metallic sheen

One last one for the #2022Marchcolorprompt challenge on Instagram. Week 2 - pink and brown

It's been a busy week crafting. I'm leading a craft class at a local museum tonight, but more of that on Monday.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope I have given you a bit of crafty inspiration. Have a really lovely day xx

Gelli plate tape transfer

Hello

Today I'm sharing one of the challenges for the #marchprintingchallenge hosted by Gelli Arts on Instagram.

Day 7 is transparent and so I thought it was a good time to try out the tape transfer technique.

I started by stencilling and doodling on the gel plate.

When the paint was completely dry I lay sticky tape across the plate and smoothed it down, before slowly peeling it off, one strip at a time. The tape was still sticky enough for me to fix it to a little glass bottle. If you wanted to store them for future use you would have to dust the back with mica powder.

I coloured the top with alcohol markers and wrapped around gold thread.

The light still shines through...just...

I was pleased with how the transfer worked out. Don't know why it's taken me so long to try it!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely day xx

March printing challenge - week 1

Hello

Today I'm sharing some gel prints I've done for the GelliArts #marchprintingchallenge. Gel printing is very addictive, before you know it the whole room is covered in printed paper!

1.  flowers

2. circles

3. rainbows

4. hearts

I also managed to use some die cut gelliprints on a gelliprint background for the #2022Marchcolorprompt challenge on Instagram.

Week 1- blue and teal

Over time I have experimented with different paints and I seem to get the best results with Golden open acrylics which stay wet for longer and pick up fine detail in botanicals. The rainbow, though, was done with Brusho on watercolour paper and I like the effect so I will have to investigate this a bit more. Some of the prints I have added to with Posca paint pen, graphite pencil and inktense pencils.

As always, the dilemma is make them into cards, keep as they are or use as a base for another project? What do you think?

Have a lovely week xx

Flamingorgeous

Hello

A quick and cheery post today with this colourful flamingo from Pink Ink.

Coloured with watercolour pencil and distress oxide inks. You can just about see the sparkles, not easy to photograph in artificial light. Spring is just around the corner so hopefully not long now until there's a bit of sunshine to craft by.

I hope your day is full of warmth and cheer xxx

Sail away

Hello

It seems like it's been a long winter and at last there are a few signs of spring around the corner. This week I needed a bit of relaxing time and what better than some colouring in with my new Koh-i-Noor watercolour pencils, purchased recently in Prague.

The boat and hare are from Lavinia and the wreath is mostly using Card-io stamps with distress oxide inks. It also fits the brief for the colour challenge with Isa.C Art&Craft.

I feel more relaxed already thinking about drifting off in the moonlight.

Have a lovely weekend. Thank you for stopping by xxx

Christmas in February

Hello

This year I am joining in with some challenges hosted by Isa on FB. Each month there is a Christmas card challenge, with the idea that at the end of the year Christmas cards will be made without the last minute rush.

This month the prompt is dark blue, gold, tree and stencilling.

I started with prussian blue Brusho and aqua lagoon Pixie Powder on watercolour paper.

I used Dr Ph Martin's bleed proof white paint through stencils. I also 'swooshed' some snow and added a lot of spatter.

The Crafty Individuals die cut tree was embellished with gems and I decided not to add a sentiment to the front...at least for now.

I added some faded jeans Distress ink and Treasure Gold gilding wax to the edges. The gilding wax picks up the texture of the paper nicely.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely week xxx

Cupboard transformation

Hello

Recently we have had a new boiler, which has meant that the cupboard where the tank was was ripe for a makeover. Acrylic paint and GiogioCraft stencils in hand I set to work.

I decided I would cover the redundant pipe work but would leave the new pipes...for now anyway.

It took about 12 hours and a lot of aching muscles and joints, as it wasn't a very comforable place to work.

Fairly pleased with it in the end, although I could carry on tweaking a bit more.

It's going to be a wardrobe so most of it won't be visible...but I'll know!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a lovely day xx
