December tagalong

Hello

Today I'm sharing the last tag of the year for the challenge with Isa. The challenge was to use three elements or techniques from the ones used over the year. I went with crackle, sparkle and wings, and frame it.

I used reds and oranges on the base layer, followed by the crackle glaze when it was totally dry. I've found I get best results if I use a generous amount of glaze, apply it in one direction, don't go back over it and leave it to slowly air dry.

When the glaze was dry I went over it with contrasting colours and left it to dry slowly to maximise the cracks.

With the tag made it was easy to add the other elements...

...some stamping in the backgound and ink around the edges...a Giogiocraft frame coloured with Distress Oxide ink and gilding wax...the Katzelkraft butterfly designed by Isa... and a sentiment sticker...done.

For a bit of extra shimmer I used clear Wink of Stella on the wings. Finished the last tag of the year.

I've had lots of fun with the group and the challenges. There isn’t going to be a group running next year but I am enormously grateful to Isa for the huge amount of time she gave and all the tips and techniques shared.

Thank you for following along on my crafty adventures this year. Wishing you a Happy New Year and I look forward to hearing from you in 2023 xxx

Butterfly kisses

Hello

Another quick post today. This time of year is always busy. I'm sharing again a Christmas card made earlier in the year for a challenge with Isa where the theme was snowflake cluster, with red and grey. I used a spotlight technique, stamping the butterfly in grey on the card blank and overlaying the coloured die cut shape.

The stamps are by Chloe's Creative Cards from issue 103 of Creative Stamping magazine. The photo makes it look wonky...it isn't honestly!

The sparkle shows up better in the detail.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx

Faux wood

Hello

Another month and another tag challenge with Isa. This next theme is for September and October and is grids

I joined Isa's YouTube workshop on creating faux wood effects. It's a technique for a weathered, painted wood effect, which obviously I won't share, but you can message her to access it here. This is the card I made...

Having made some strips of faux wood I thought I could use them on the grids tag.

I used Distress Oxide ink on the background and lifted out a watery sun by wrapping the end of a round wooden stamp in a baby wipe and pressing it into the card.

Then just a matter of creating a trellis and adding some die cut flowers.

Hoping that trellis counts as a grid.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely week xx

Butterfly tag

Hello

Today I'm sharing a tag made for the summer mini tag challenge with Isa on Facebook. I can't recommend this group enough. Isa is a very generous host with lots of FB and YouTube lives in the month and prize giveaways.

This tag was made for the theme transparent. I'm afraid I went with the obvious butterfly.

I stamped the butterfuly on white card and acetate. I embossed the acetate one, which was a bit tricky as it was ordinary acetate and nearly melted! I added a little gold gilding wax in places.

As the tag turned out better than I expected I made a matching birthday card.

The background stamp is from Studiolight, the butterfly IndigoBlu and the sentiment Elizabeth Designs.

Thank you for stopping by. I always welcome and appreciate your comments. Have a lovely week xx

Butterflies, bees and bugs...part 3

Hello

If you've been following recent posts you will have seen the samples for a card making night at Chertsey museum.

The evening was good fun. It was on the hottest day of the year and everyone soldiered through the heat...some with the help of a little chilled white wine. It's always a sociable evening and often people book in groups (if you're thinking the tables are a bit cramped) and don't want to be spread out.

The group made some stunning cards, and I'm very pleased to say, they all added their own creativity and really experimented. I don't think I got them all photographed but here's a sample...

Thank you to everyone who came along it was a very enjoyable evening.

There's one more butterfly card I made for the FB #tagalongcolour challenge with Isa last month. It had to have complementary colours and I've used one of the Katzelkraft butterflies designed by @Isa.C.ArtandCraft.

Have a lovely crafty week. Thank you stopping by xxx

Butterflies, bees and bugs...part 2

Hello

I'm sharing a few more samples made for a craft night at a local museum.

These all use a mixture of stencilling and stamping in the background. The insects were stamped on the card to get the antennae and legs and then I didn't have to worry about cutting them out, before decoupaging a coloured version over the top.

Hopefully there will be plenty of inspiration to get everyone started for a fun evening of creativity.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I really do appreciate all of your comments xx
