Night flight

Hello

A quick one today sharing one of the designs I've been playing with for a craft night. I'm hoping to introduce the group to heat embossing. One or two may have done it before, but I think it will be new to most.

I've made two cards, nearly identical, with both black and white embossing. The first using watercolour...

...and the second with marker pens and Distress Ink.

I really can't decide which I prefer. What do you think?

Thank you for taking the time to stop by xxx

Time to party

Hello

A very quick one today to reshare a card made right at the start of the year for the challenges with Isa.

It's one of my favourite stamps and will definitely make another appearance in the future.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope your day is full of wonder xxx

Deck the halls

Hello

I'm in the final throes of holiday preparations before relatives arrive. Not much time for crafting but I have managed to finish off a few decorations started earlier in the year.

Back in June a friend and I shared our moulds and had a mammoth resin pouring afternoon. The result looked like this ...

Most of the pieces are waiting to be used but I did get around to the Christmas decorations.

First a base of PaperArtsy fresco finish paint on the larger decorations...followed by Pentart sparkling gel medium.

Lastly a gentle rub over with gold gilding wax.

The blue decorations are going on presents and the stars are on the tree.

My husband brought me back some decorations from Ukraine and Poland at the start of the year. I've used a base layer of metallic paint.

I spread glue on the decorations and sprinkled on Stampendous frantage embossing powders before heating. The embossing powder is quite textured, but when you heat it on the glue it bubbles and becomes extra crusty!

I'm afraid in the absence of any decent sunlight at this time of year, the sparkle doesn't show that well. These will look lovely on presents...if I can find time to get on with the wrapping!

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas - part1

Hello

Last week I joined a fantastic three hour paid online workshop hosted by Isa. There was lots of information before hand so you could prepare in advance to craft along at the same time. I did A LOT of prep and managed to make sixteen ATCs over the afternoon. The goal was to make nine.

If you are interested you can message her through Facebook or Instagram to get access to the video and the process.

I used some very, very old Penny Black stamps and some from issue 115 of Creative Stamping magazine. I'm going to share them a few at a time as I'm still doing little tweaks and turning them into Christmas cards.

The Christmas cake is made and finally I'm beginning to feel as if Christmas might be just around the corner.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

Snowflakes

Hello

I've had another trip down memory lane thinking back to Craft Barn DT days. Here's another of my favourites which has stood the test of time. You can see the original post and details here.

I still like the colours and delicate details.

Next week I should be ready to start sharing with you some makes for this year.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx

Musical stitches

Hello

I'm all a bit out of sync this week as I have come down with a horrid cold. The result of being cocooned for more than two years and then daring to mingle with people...and their germs!

I've been joining in with the #tagalongwithIsa challenges on FB and this month I thought I'd have a go at the ATC swap. The theme is music and stitching.

I started with a background stamp over Distress Oxide ink, and coloured the keys in with white gel pen.

I used gel medium through a GiogioCraft stencil and sprinkled over red embossing powder. When heated it gives a lovely bubbly textured finish.

I'm not a big sewer and although I have a sewing machine, it's not been out in decades. I pricked a pattern out on card and then sewed through the holes to create the chevrons.

Last of all I added the words from a set of Joy! stamps and a few red spatters. I'll find out in due course who I am swapping with.

Hope this week brings you some fine tunes to dance to. Thank you for stopping by xxx

Art journal - April

Hello

Today I'm sharing an art journal spread for a #tagalongaj challenge  If you want to know more you can see the details at Isa.C Art&Craft. The theme for this month is black and white flowers.

I started with Brusho on wet watercolour paper.

Next some stamping from PaperArtsy sets ETS06 and ETS09, with some embossed in white.

I added a little colour to the ovals with Posca paint pens and stencilled the honeycomb using a GiogioCraft stencil.

I stamped and embossed flowers from the stamp sets, cut them out and added them to the pages. I added a little stamped script in a few places.

A few bees from a Sentimentally Yours stamp set finished it off.

The bees are starting to visit the pots on my balcony as the weather warms up. Just waiting for the swifts to arrive now.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

Christmas in January

Hello

If you've read some of my recent posts you will know that I am joining in with some challenges hosted by Isa on FB. The fourth challenge is to make a Christmas card each month so that by the time December comes I will already have some made.

This month the prompt is white embossing powder, an animal and stars.

A good opportunity to get out my favourite Crafty Individuals stamp, crowned hares, well half of it as I cut it up a while ago to separate the hares.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a lovely day xx

January tagalong

Hello

This year I'm going to join in with challenges set by Isa who designs for Katzelkraft and Crafty Individuals.

If you are interested you need to ask to join the private tagalong group. I won't share her techniques for obvious reasons. There will be live demos and prizes. I've really missed crafting with other people and this is a good compromise for present circumstances.

January tagalong

The FBlive demos a technique, not a design, so everyone's tags are different.

Isa is also hosting a monthly art journal challenge, a monthly Christmas card challenge, and most intriguingly a basket challenge. The idea behind the basket challenge is to gather together a bunch of old and unfulfilled crafting supplies and do something with them.

Did I say it's free?! Maybe 'see' some of you at the next FB live in February.

Thank you for stopping by have a lovely week xx

Polar bears

Hello

If you've been following my recent posts you'll have realised I have been playing with dark backgrounds and opaque media. Here are my last two cards, at least for now, using my favourite bear laser cuts from Giogiocraft.

The sentiment stamps are by Lou Collins from Creative Stamping magazine and they stamp really nicely.

I should have seen polar bears this summer but it's been postponed until next summer...fingers crossed it can go ahead next time.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely week xx

O Christmas tree

Hello

I'm still having fun making cards and tags with dark backgrounds using opaque media. If you are interested in seeing how it started off you can see Isa's tutorial in the link.

I had forgotten how mesmerising heat embossing is.

I batch made the backgrounds so there are still a couple more cards to show you. Must get myself sorted and actually send some cards before it's too late.

Hope you have a lovely week xx

Tagalong

Hello

I've been having more of a play after joining Isa's tagalong at the weekend and trying to decide on one competition entry. You can follow the link to see the video and enter the competition. The theme was using opaque materials on dark backgrounds.

I've made quite a few backgrounds so I can do a few cards as well as tags. Watch this space.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander

Hello

I've been busy crafting away, making Christmas cards, but never getting the time to share on the blog so there's a bit of catch up to do.

Yesterday I joined Isa for a Facebook Live craftalong. You can follow the link to see the video and enter the competition. The theme was using opaque materials on dark backgrounds. There is a competition and the entry has to be a tag (not a card).

So here goes my first two attempts...

I won't explain the process as it's all in Isa's video but I will say that I have fallen in love with Dr Phil Martin's bleed proof white, which is really white even on porous card.

So which of these two do you prefer? Your thoughts and constructive comments are always welcome.

Thank you for stopping by xxx
