Mother's Day Blooms

Hello

Today in the UK we celebrate Mother's Day, although I know a lot of countries celebrate in May and other months of the year.

I've made a couple of cards with the Sizzix colorize blooms dies. I enjoyed making them but I won't lie it was a very lengthy process to colour all of the card, die cut and place all the pieces.

Think the effort was worth it though.

Wishing you a very happy day wherever you are.

Mehndi elephant

Hello

I have recently had a birthday and have been exceptionally lucky to have lots of crafty presents which will be experimented with and making an appearance here in due course. My lovely husband gave me some Blackwing coloured pencils (which smell so good!) and a voucher for an experience photographing street art. My parents gave me vouchers for a fused glass workshop and my sister gave me a ring light with a remote control to help with taking better photos. I still need a bit of practice with that one.

I've had money, vouchers and gift cards already spent on crafty stash and lots of paint, papers, stencils, dies and lovely non crafting gifts. I am blessed to have friends and family who know me so well.

Creative Dies Die & Stamp Set Elephant Set of 5 | Mehndi Collection

I've finally managed to finish off a set of four cards I started at least a year ago, maybe longer, using the Creative Dies mehndi elephant. I had all the pieces cut but just hadn't had time to colour them.

A bit of a secret...it turns out you can do colouring in while doing a three hour webinar training! I've used inktense pencils, with some Distress Oxide spatter and a little ProMarker shadowing.

I've kept the decoupaging very low, with just a couple of pads between the layers and sealing the edges down with glue, to give a slightly domed effect which will still post easily without extra cost.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and thank you to those who leave comments, I really do appreciate them. Take care and have a lovely day xx

Punch it!

Hi
Thank you for stopping by. This week The Craft Barn theme is all about using punch boards. I get to kick off the week with a card using a tabs punch board. It seemed too easy to just make index cards or journal dividers! Do pop over to the blog for all of the details and look out for ideas from the rest of the DT over the week.

Have a lovely day. It looks like it's going to get very warm indeed where I live!

Leave a trail

The August issue of Craft Stamper features a free camper van stamp...very handy when you know someone with a camper van with a birthday coming up in September!

The sunshine was created using Brusho through a stencil and blotting to get second and third generation images.  The road was added using distress ink through the same stencil.  The van is decoupaged and the windscreen is cut out so that the background shows through.  The IndigoBlu sentiment is one of my favourites and I've used it many times before.

I can't decide whether I like the top card best with the stronger colours or the bottom one with the van coloured in more traditional colours.  It might depend on if you're a VW purist...what do you think?

Materials used:
IndigoBlu: Grand Tour III sentiment
PaperArtsy: EDY10 flying birds
Kaisercraft texture clear stamps: chevron, edges
The Crafters Workshop: mini sunburst mask
Brusho: scarlet, ornage, yellow, lemon
Ranger Archival Ink: jet black
Distress Ink: faded jeans
Promarkers: ice grey 2, capri blue, sky blue, orange

Fabulous Boot

With a few girlie birthdays coming up I thought now was the time to get out the Fabulous Boot 2 stamp by The House of Zandra.  First the background was stamped all over with swirls in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the circles shaded with Promarkers.  Next a frame was die cut and the Fabulous Boot was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, allowing the top of the boot to come off the frame.  It was then restamped another twice on pieces of card so the flowers and boot could be decoupaged.  The images were shaded with Promarkers and assembled with silicone glue and Cosmic Shimmer glue.

Entered in:

Materials used:
The House of Zandra: Fabulous Boot 2 stamp
background swirl stamp
Memento Ink: tuxedo black
Ranger Distress Ink: vintage photo
Promarkers: marine, island lagoon, frosted jade, shale, tan, crimson
Cosmic shimmer glue, silicone glue, double sided tape
